Sheet masks, decoded.

Since a couple of y’all asked me to review The Face Shop sheet masks, I thought I’d do that.

I’m not really reviewing the product per se, because I’m a sheet mask rookie, so I’m just reviewing sheet masks for skin care and my thoughts on it.

I had used an offer on Nykaa which was if you order 5, you get 3 free so I had a total of 8 sheet masks, of which I’ve used two – lemon and avocado.

Before buying them, I read online user reviews, used some common sense and narrowed my options down.

It didn’t really make sense to me to buy the Bamboo, Pomegranate, Red ginseng or Calendula sheet masks.

Don’t really see them adding much to my skin.

I bought the ones with known skin benefits, like Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Green tea, Honey and Lemon.

The package contains a natural adhesive mask which is very thin and infused with a serum that hydrates your skin.

The mask is a ‘one-size fits all’ so it fits fairly well with some adjustment.

You’re supposed to keep it on for around 20-30 minutes and then remove the thin mask and massage the serum into your skin.

I used the extra serum in the packet for my arms and legs too. There’s quite alot in there 🙂

I would suggest using it when you’re free at home and not planning on going out anytime soon because your face will feel slightly sticky for a while once you’re done.

But for best results, use it only when your skin is feeling dry and dull like mine is currently thanks to Goa’s terrible heat.

Your skin actually glows for a while. That healthy, well-nourished glow!

I don’t think it would make much of a difference if your skin is already well moisturised. And don’t expect fairness or firming or super clear skin.

The Nykaa sheet masks have an even better offer where you buy 7 and get 7 free which you could try.

My friend, Dr. Karla Faleiro MD dermatology, says that sheet masks that contain hyaluronic acid and betahydroxyacid can be used as very mild peels and give better results if you use them often, but they are also more expensive! So you decide 😃

On a separate note, it’s a fun relaxation technique.

A good book, a sheet mask and some cold watermelon juice.

Throw in the fact that you live in Goa, and you’re sorted 🙂

I hope this was informative, I’m not a lifestyle blogger and nor do I plan on becoming one 🙂

Just helping people get the best value for their money with actual medical facts!

If you look after your pennies, your pounds will look after you 😉

I’ve also uploaded a picture of my face after using the Avocado sheet mask! It feels like a million bucks, I’m not sure of you can see the slightly oily glow though!

Happy sheet-masking to you 🙂
